Julia Knowles grew up in Maine and started flying paragliders shortly after moving to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2014. Extensive car-camping road trips during off-seasons introduced her to a variety of flying sites and wonderful communities throughout the American West. Julia stepped up as President of the Jackson Hole Free Flight Club in 2018, simultaneously earning her instructor rating at Point of the Mountain to build mentorship skills to better serve her community. During Winter 2020-21, Julia worked with the RRRG to successfully navigate an unanticipated insurance issue that threatened the future of free flight at her home site. She brings skills from a professional background in the outdoor industry (administrative management and communications) when not out exploring the Tetons on skis or from the air.
