International Pilot Information

To fly USHPA-regulated sites in the US, you must be a USHPA member and hold the rating or skill level required for the specific site. A membership with USHPA provides third-party liability insurance, which is required by most landowners in the US.

Contact local pilots for information and protocol for each site that you will fly. Find chapters. Find schools/instructors.

Membership Options

Visiting pilots may join USHPA with a temporary 10-day membership. These memberships are available from active Rogallo members holding current Instructor certifications, Chapter officers, and organizers of approved USHPA events (sanctioned competitions or ACE). Visitors may also join USHPA as annual Pilot members. Click here to read more about our membership levels and benefits or to join as an annual Pilot member.

Ratings (flight proficiency)

Instructors and Observers may issue a visiting pilot a foreign-equivalent USHPA rating using a combination of their country’s rating system, observing flying skills, and administering appropriate tests. The visiting pilot must be an annual Pilot member to hold a USHPA rating. Learn more about USHPA ratings here

Visiting pilots with a temporary (10-day) USHPA membership or a Pilot membership without USHPA ratings, must carry both their homeland rating documentation AND a valid IPPI card to show flight proficiency.
