USHPA is pursuing self-insurance. Through donations we have secured the minimum funds necessary to set up a Risk Retention Group (RRG)! The money we raise above this minimum goal will be used to increase the RRG's initial capital and offset startup costs. This will make the RRG stronger and better able to protect our sites, schools, and members.
This issue affects every hang glider and paraglider pilot flying in the US, and we encourage all pilots to contribute whatever you can to this communal effort. The insurance landscape has changed dramatically, forcing USHPA to pursue this self-insurance. We launched an unprecedented campaign - Free Flight Forever - in order to create a self-insurance group (RRG) and protect our sites, schools, and members. We established the required RRG fund in an amazing two short months, thanks to our dedicated members, chapters, and directors.
