Greg has devoted his 40-year career to the advancement of outdoor sports
education through a continuous pursuit of both technical excellence and
mentorship. His professionalism, dedication, and impartiality have earned him
positions of leadership in the fields of both alpine skiing and paragliding.
After finishing college with a geography degree, he began working in the ski
industry as a ski instructor. After 3 years of instruction, Greg attained Level 3
certification through the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and
became technical director for Smugglers Notch Ski School in Vermont during 80’s.
Greg moved to the Rocky Mountains in 1990 and became a ski instructor for Vail
Ski Resort as well as a lead trainer for staff coordinating the Level 2 educational
curriculum for candidates working through the certification process and continues
as a lead trainer for the Vail Ski School Staff. He was an advanced educator as an
examiner for certification for the PSIA Rocky Mountain Division for 23 years and
participated in development of the Instructor Handbook used for ski instruction.
Greg began paragliding in 1991, and is part owner and manager of a paragliding
school which began in the late 90’s. He has been an Instructor and Tandem
Administrator for several years and continues to offer clinics for USHPA. He has
been the Chair of the Safety and Training Committee, now Training and
Certification, for 9 years.
Greg believes if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. He
continues to share his passion for his chosen outdoor sports with students and
looks forward to the opportunity to enhance development in the free-flight arena.
